Game Keeper: Somebody Messed Up My Shop! Skill Tree Guide
The skill tree is what separates Game Keeper from the older sorting games. In the devlog, Tamae explains why: in games like Librarian you quickly reach the point where you carry everything and just wait for ability cooldowns. He and Zaaif wanted you to feel the effort early and unlock power step by step instead.

How the tree works
- The tree opens on its own screen, drawn as a retro neon grid. Nodes branch out from the centre, connected by lines.
- Each node has a tooltip with its name, what it does and its price. The one visible in the official screenshot reads: Unlock Triple Jump - “Allows you to jump three times” - Points: 25, paid in gems.
- Some branches are chains of the same upgrade in several steps (the screenshot shows rows of five similar boot icons, which is how movement upgrades are drawn).
- A padlocked node at the end of one branch is a bigger unlock that needs the earlier steps first.
The three currencies
The developers say the tree grew from one upgrade currency into three, each used for something different. The HUD in the top-right corner shows all three:
| Icon | What we know | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Blue gem | Pays for skill tree nodes (the Triple Jump tooltip prices in gems) | Official screenshot |
| Orange coin with a cat face | A second currency; screenshots show it in the tens of thousands | Official screenshots |
| Rainbow coin | A third currency, kept in single digits in the screenshots, so it is the rare one | Official screenshots |
The devlog adds one more fact: the slot machine needs its own special currency, which you earn by filling racks and which Jeff also generates over time. Which of the two coins that is will be confirmed here once the game is out and players post their HUDs.
Abilities that are confirmed
From the Steam page, the devlog and the screenshots:
- Movement speed upgrades (“ranging from increased movement speed”, per the store page).
- Triple Jump (tooltip in the official screenshot).
- Pick up an entire game series at once (“all the way to automatically picking up an entire game series”).
- Jeff’s slot machine is unlocked through the tree; see the slot machine guide.
- An ability bar with five slots, bound to keys 1 to 5, appears at the bottom-left once abilities are unlocked.
Extra hand slots come from the hidden plush collectibles, according to the developers; whether the tree also raises hand size is not confirmed yet.
What to buy first
- Movement speed. Every case means a walk to its rack. A faster walk saves time on all 4,290 of them.
- Anything that adds carrying capacity or batch pickup. Picking up a whole series in one action is the single biggest time saver in the genre.
- Jumping upgrades once the upper floor and high shelves start to matter.
- The slot machine when you have spare gems: it can pay skill points back.
Exact node names, full costs and the shape of the whole tree will be added here after launch, from footage and player reports. Nothing below that line is guessed.
Thanks. Jeff approves, probably.
